Sporto's Christian Comedy Adventure

Let's face it. There's a slim chance of attracting a large group of followers to your blog. But it's an easier outlet than the  old "mail a newsletter" in the eighties. I remember when I was a kid I had a pen pal in Europe. After a few months, he suddenly stopped responding. I had all this leftover writing paper, what was I going to do with it?  I decided to use it to make  a stationary bike.

I think a lot of people ask themselves this question. The answer is yes.. and yes.  Humor is relative. He's my Uncle Ted.  I remember playing catch with my Dad as a kid, and missing the ball and it hitting me in the gut. I felt this pain and I couldn't catch my breath. My Dad said, "It looks look like you got the wind knocked out of you!".  Aside from the pain, I suddenly felt a sense of mystery and wonder, I possessed wind within me! One of the natural elements lived within! Later, I found out if I was tired, I could get a second wind! Awesome! But soon I learned that others did not take care of the precious gift. I became angry at Thanksgiving when I learned that my Uncle Ted broke wind.

Well today is the first day of voting for the Russell Peters Best Funny Five contest. I have entered a short video that does not seem to be fairing so well. Compared to many of the other submissions, I believe it to be fairly humorous, but that does not seem to be the criteria for this contest. It appears those who rally the most troops to their video get the recognition over pure comedic content. And by troops I mean people in the army, those guys votes seem to be worth a lot more somehow. I'm not saying that mine is the funniest, but it doesn't seem like anyone's going through the videos and actually voting on their favourite (At this time my video has 18 views while others have over 1400 hmmm..). Ah well, it was a good experience for me, and at least 18 people had a chance to check out my style.

Christian Comedy is synonymous with weak comedy. It's hard to wright good comedy, it's even harder to write good clean comedy. The reward? Laughter! I have found usually the funniest bits of even blue comics is their clean stuff. If comedy is rude there's sort of an embarrassed laughter that accompanies it. It's an easy target that most comics go for.  My goal is to have stuff that's funny and won't cause people to squirm.  Let's see how it goes....
